 FiberSport did a series of WIND TUNNEL tests to find the optimum throwing distance of each designed DISCUS. We added WIND conditions to the rim weight percentage equation to determine how the DISCUS performed in-flight—applying a distance rating to each DISCUS to improve the selection and fitting process!

Designing the DISCUS to get the most lift & to be stable in the air was the challenge. Determining why a DISCUS falls out of the sky or tips was the key to solving this problem.  Old technology placed the Rim Weight too far out on the Rim. The DISCUS would tip when the rotation ended.  The  DISCUS needed more RIM CONTROL! Once  FiberSport designed the balance between the plate & rim the process worked.  Now with more balance and less tip, the  DISCUS glides to the ground up to 12 ft or 3.5 meters farther.

 FiberSport placed computer chips inside the DISCUS to measure the science of DISCUS flight. The computer chips transmitted the data to our computer program about the Gravity, the Gyro spin, Tip stability, & Flight distance. This data reveals three determining factors in DISCUS selection—the need for at least two or three different Rim-weighted DISCUSES taken to any event to take control & use the WIND.

  These essential variables predetermine the flight of the DISCUS; 

1. WIND conditions in conjunction with the 
2. Rim weight percentages as well as 
3. Rotational distance ratings. 

Using all three variables, one can determine which DISCUS to use in any scenario.
